very quickly. by 9:00 a.m. just a little spotty activity south of san jose. by noon today almost completely clear over the greater bay area from the showers and we're also talking about sunshine at that point from santa rosa down to san mateo. still mostly cloudy until about 2:00 p.m. in san jose but we're going to see a nice, sunny finish to the day and highs will be in the upper 60s and low 70s everywhere across the bay area. traffic and weather go hand in hand. let's check on the morning commute with mike inouye. >> mostly cloudy and we're hearing mostly crowdy over at the toll plaza where we have the wet roads. look at that, the water kicks up some of the leftovers from last night's rain. there is the slow at the toll plaza. the map shows you it is moving smoothly but the yellow spots just below 60. i'm going to overlay some weather data. the green here you may have slicker conditions like the bay bridge toll plaza. this is west 580 into livermore, the earlier accident and two accidents reported have both completely cleared from the roadway. a lot of folks headed toward the d

are going over san jose. some of that lighter rain. there is a lot of holmes system. 50s and 60s. 57, santa rosa, napa and fairfield. it's pretty mild. the system will work its way east and south. we will start to see clearing. the next system looks like its heading north. next good rain looks to be november 9th. 60s to near 70 on the temperatures. then afternoon sun, fog will be back, that inland fog, tulle fog which is thick thick thick but temperatures warming up. we set clocks back an hour sunday morning temperatures will be nice though the days are shorter. >> thank you. on to the coverage of sandy. new jersey's governor said the jersey shore he knew and loved may be a thing of the past. there is to much damage and rebuilding it back to the way it was may set it up for another disaster. many gas stations were forced to close. officials are running out of fuel to keep generators running. >>> this is new video out of new york city showing the thousands of people lined up to use buses. the line wraps around the new barkley center in brooklyn where tonight's scheduled opening basketball

oakland, 53 mountain view. san jose low 50s. you are warmer this morning. and most locations gilroy, though, 47 degrees. so the 24-hour temperature change, looking at numbers mainly three to six degrees warmer from our coast around the bay. but we do have that cooler air mass with those temperatures dropping into the upper 40s near napa and santa rosa. about a half-mile visibility toward novato. a mile and three quarters santa rosa and napa looking at four-mile visibility, as well. throughout the day today we will look for the warmer afternoon with the numbers coming up to more spring-like readings. mid-70s downtown today and possible record warmth tomorrow through election day with more 80s around the bay than 70s. san benito county, southern monterey could reach 90 degrees by tomorrow. the warming begins today as the high pressure builds in from the eastern pacific. it will stay that way for the next 48 hours. by wednesday, though, a big drop. a midweek cool-down with numbers dropping at much at ten to fifteen degrees. then the rain comes overnight wednesday into thursday. light s

from our first showers in the north bay. at 2:00 p.m. we'll get some of those showers in the san jose area. the closer you are to the front, the gustier the winds. you can see down south we have virtually no wind to talk about. in san mateo, calm winds. west-northwest wind at 3 miles per hour in san jose whereas we're gusting in fairfield at ape miles per hour. as we head throughout the day today, the winds are only going to get stronger as that front moves in. not a great day for the flowing skirt by any means and grab that umbrella on your way out the door. you can see starting to end up on the high end of that key with sustained wind speeds of 30 miles an hour right at the coast. we're bringing in the showers after noon. 58 in livermore, 60 in santa teresa. about 60 in los gatos and 59 in oakland and san francisco. seven-day outlook tells the story. start they thinking about the weekend on thursday. we'll get to the forecast coming up. seven-day ready to go. before you go out the door here's mike. >> we've got to give you a warning if you're heading to the b.a.r.t. station. there's

redwood city to fremont and san jose this morning. a little bit of fog. otherwise we are just on our way to a rapid warmup today. possible records tomorrow and tuesday. then the bottom falls out after that. here comes the warming trend. it's high pressure that builds into the upper layer surface and the upper layers of the atmosphere. what that means is that flow turns slightly offshore. more of a northerly flow so the down sloping winds allowing for rapid warming today with some 80s possible. look it, it's a state-wide event with 84 in los angeles, 80 down by san diego and look at big sur, 80s on the coast. we are talking another five to seven degrees of warming tomorrow into tuesday. so that should take us about 15 to 20 degrees above normal by the time we hit election day. but i think tomorrow should be the warmest day of the work week. so average highs mid-60s here. talking 74 in san francisco, 677 oakland. san jose we have low 80s up toward the north in santa rosa, 80 for concord, livermore. half moon bay 68 and down by the monterey bay, santa cruz, 80 degrees today. 81 hollister. e
